On Monday, April 24, me and the photo 1 class went to Old Sacramento for our first field trip. What I loved most about the trip is that I got to freely and independently explore on my own and take as many pictures as I wanted. It really made me feel like a true photographer. It's always a great feeling to take a picture and get the perfect balance of exposure, focus and depth of field, and color.
I didn't like the feeling of not having enough time to take pictures, so I felt a bit rushed and didn't get as many good angles. Also, it would've been a bit more fun if I had a few of my friends to hang out with, but sometimes it's better to explore without anyone to slow you down.
As for my assignments, I chose to focus on architecture and landscapes. If I had the chance to go again, I would definitely love to have some zoom lens. Also, I would like to explore the indoors, since I only went inside Round Table's pizza during the entire field trip. I'd check out the railroad museum, as well as the Delta King.
Overall, I think I was prepared to have a great time, meet new people, and take good pictures of all the great settings. I was expecting to set my camera to a slow film speed and slightly underexposing to compensate for the bright scenes. Finally, I made sure to only have the camera on me, so I wouldn't be slowed down or hindered from any good shots.
