Today in photography class, we got to watch a documentary on Vivian Maier, a photographer from New York. What I thought was most interesting about Maier is that she was incredibly private, yet still took about 100,000 pictures from street photography to self-portraits. She was a very mysterious woman, never showed her photography to anybody, and also had a very dark side. I also found it pretty cool how Maier meant for her photography to be discovered eventually. There are still so many questions about Maier. Why did she keep so many newspapers? How come she never showed anyone her pictures? Either way, Maier is finally appreciated for all of her incredible work.
